Ethernet Data Converters
The Lantronix® UDS-10 and UDS-100 Ethernet data converters provide a quick, simple, and cost-effective way
to connect remote equipment to StatPak-PC. Any piece of equipment with a serial port can be connected to
StatPak-PC in a matter of minutes using the UDS-10 and UDS-100.
Using a method called serial tunneling, the UDS-10 and UDS-100 encapsulate serial data into
packets and transports it over Ethernet. The included redirection software allows data to be
logged into Windows® applications via a virtual COM port. StatPak-PC then uses the virtual COM ports, mapped to
remote device servers on the network, to collect serial data from remote equipment.
The UDS-10 and UDS-100 even include a built-in web server, which can be used for configuration, or to
display operating and troubleshooting information on the attached links to online support.
Serial Data Converters
Serial data converters (produced by B&B Electronics) allow devices with different serial protocols
to communicate with StatPak-PC. Any device with a serial port can be connected to StatPak-PC.
Data from devices with serial protocols such as RS-422, RS-232, and 20mA current loop is typically
converted to a common protocol before being sent on to StatPak-PC for logging.
These serial data converters can be externally or port powered.
